Being a Notre Dame fan, I’m watching their game at North Carolina this afternoon.

Thirty-three years ago this afternoon at North Carolina, Notre Dame struggled, until one of the future greats came off the bench in the 4th quarter for the Irish.

From today’s South Bend Tribune:

“In the third period, however, the Tar Heels scored twice and took a 14-0 lead into the final period. Early in the fourth period, Rick Slager engineered a drive and with plenty of running help from Jerome Heavens and Al Hunter, the Irish scored. But Slager misfired on a 2-point conversion pass and it was 14-6 with 11:27 to play. When the clock got down to 6:00, it was ‘Montana time.'”

Here’s what happened next….
