You're welcome. I've topped the baked oatmeal with craisins (those sweetened dried cranberries) but I like your modification better yet. Will have to give it a try.

Baked oatmeal recipe Take II:

Tried it again yesterday. Folded in some fresh cranberries. Was forced to ration to family. Later in the day my wife had to stop at P&S for a few items. When she came out one of the items was the largest barrel of Quaker Oats I have ever seen. I just guessing, but I will be making this regularly.

Pretty darned good. The family scarfed it down while I was cleaning gutters. Came in hungry, SOL.

What an intriguing concept for a reality show – Deer Camp!

Then everyone would learn for sure the impact of bean soup on a household of middle-aged hunters AND if the goomers were wearing suits in the tub.

Alas, since this is a family-oriented website you will only get the sanitized version of the story...

OMG! This should be a TV show. In fact, you should have a "Deer Camp Cam" so we could watch this. On second thought, maybe passive reports are better. Editing is always best. No doubt you're having a great time. Stay safe!

Ok. I'm on it.

I might have some down time during deer camp next week. If so, there's more fish in the freezer. I'll fire-up the smoker.

Edit - The fish may be suspect. I'll have to thaw it and see. If it's beyond hope I'll do some pheasants.

Tom--I would like to add my contribution to what I know will be a long list of comments you will receive today, Veterans Day. Hopefully your readers will be able to open this small mini-documentary I posted on YouTube as a reminder of a trip I took with veterans of the D-Day landings at Omaha Beach. The scene today is very different from the chaos that these men met in 1945. This group of men traveled as members of a college course they were taking to help write or restore the memories they had of that eventful day. I was fortunate to be among them and to serve as their listener.

I want you to know that you have made my decision all the more difficult.

I must say that Karen’s and Deeper’s have the most promise. If I could wrestle that monstrosity into a tree stand and nail it down I might just have the perfect situation - relief from boredom and warmth. If I could only find an extension cord a quarter to a half-mile in length.

As for installing the conundrum in the bed of my pick-up I would only have to haul the giant generator everywhere I went.

Mount it in the back of a big SUV. Take it with you wherever you go! Tailgating, block parties, fireworks, picnics, up north, down south. Back it in to your driveway and sit in your garage!

Seriously, I have seen it done at tailgating events....LOL....
