Scouting Devils Lake

This last weekend, Badger Trails hosted scouts(boys/girls) from all over

Wisconsin.  The weekend was full of camping & hiking.  There was

also a record spin and dance for the older scouts.

It refreshing to see kids outdoors, enjoying one of the premier attractions

in the state without the need for Cable, itunes, AIM, gamecubes, etc……

It was also good for the adults to show by example the fun that can be

experienced by hiking in trails around Devils lake.

Troop #111 Whitman/West had 11 scouts camping which was large considering with was scheduled

on homecoming weekend.

We were lucky that the weather gods were kind to us and gave us great, rain-free weather.

We in Wisconsin are so very fortunate to have a wonderful State Park that

is so close to enjoy the natural world at it’s finest.

The peak colors weekends are still ahead of us, so if you can, take the ride out

To Devil’s lake and enjoy the  best season Wisconsin has to offer.

Scouting is a great way for parents to time with their kids and their kid's friends.

Hey Peter...

Let me guess.

That's Elephant Rock, isn't it?

As a scout (a million years ago) I attended that annual event every October and have a collection of commemorative patches to prove it.

As an Explorer Scout I met this really cute Girl Scout from Peoria at the dance held at the pavilion.  There was a real rock and roll band and that old building was shaking.

How is it that I remember stuff like that...

Tom, yes.  I believe it is.  It was on the bottom of the West rim trail.

We hiked about 14 miles on Saturday.  Excellent weather.

Hope people will take advantage of this weekend--looks like another good one.
