What's the problem at the City Dump

By Peter Hart
Saturday, Apr 28 2007, 11:24 AM
For the second week in a row I have made a trip to the City Dump and have been told
that they are out of Dump permits. I went @ 11:00am on a Saturday and was told
they were already sold out of permits and I should come during the week (8am-5pm)
to purchase them. I work full time and it is very hard for me come at their convenience.

What is so difficult that the City cannot plan ahead and give those at the dump enough
permits to allow us taxpayers to access to the dump. If they cannot figure that most
people buy their permits on Saturday, then they shouldn't charge the $10 for the permit.

If is not the employees who work at the dump, it is the City (Bill Kappel- Head of DPW)
who cannot figure out that there is a problem and/or how to solve it.

We in Tosa pay some of the highest property taxes in the state and cannot even have access
to the dump.

I say if you can't make the permits accessable then STOP REQUIRING THE PERMIT!

Tosa Scouting - On to Eagle with Troop #111 (Whitman)

This weekend I got to join Troop #111(Whitman) at Camp Erin for “On to Eagle Weekend.” The troop camped overnight on Fri-Sat night. On Saturday Troop #111 was joined by more Cub Scouts from Packs #324 (Waterford) & Pack #118 (Underwood). We ended up with 7 Cub Scouts and lots of Boy Scouts in our group, and the boys made lots of new friends!

One of the main activities of the day was going from camp to camp visiting many different troops. Each troop had some sort of station set up - folding the flag, first aid, tying knots, making doughnuts in a dutch oven, making shelter and so much more! After spending 5-20 minutes at a station, you received an item for your totem.

The weekend weather couldn't have been better (sunny in the 70's), in fact a couple a the older scouts slept "under the stars" on a night that included a meteor shower.

Troop #111 is a very active & growing troop. There are several Eagle Scouts and more on the way.
Scouting is a great way for boys to learn valuable skills (first aid, communications, leadership) as well
as meeting new kids. Troop #111 is also helping the Wauwatosa Kiwanis (sponsor) with starting a Venturing Crew #1538 which is based at Wauwatosa West which includes both boys & girls (14-20) giving kids another opportunity to learn life skills.

Scouting is a worthwhile & positive organization and I appreciate all the voluteers (especially the leaders) that give the kids their time and energy.
