I would like to thank all of the Underwood parent Volunteers who make Underwood's High Interest Day one of my child's favorite school days.
There are an amazing amount of student activities involving High Interest Day. Each student gets to choose from a variety of fun classes which are too numerious to mention. The presenters are varied, the topics are far ranging but the common thread is that the kids get exposed to many classes that are both fun and enriching.
The PTA organizes the committee. The Committee organizes the volunteers and the Volunteers do the work.
High Interest day's coordination is amazing.
Thank you Underwood, thank you PTA, thank you Committee members, thank you volunteers and thank you presenters for all of your efforts! Everyone is looking forward to Friday! (maybe Saturday too!)

I was shopping at Sendik’s yesterday and saw an advertising “Green Tag Special” on Wauwatosa’s Blue recycling bags. The price was $8.27 for 20 Bags. I don’t usually go to Sendik’s shopping but Jewel closed and I don’t like Pick & Save.
$8.27 for 20 bags! I heard it cost a buck for the city to pick up the bags and sort the recycling. I have been bring my bags to the dump since the dump fire, using my expensive (non-West Allis) bags—no more.
Why can’t the city buy their expensive bags in bulk and sell them at the library for $4-$5. The bags can’t cost more than $2-$3 and let the library keep the difference.
$8.27 what a rip-off. Tell your alderman to negotiate for cheaper bags or let citizens use the cheaper “West Allis” bags.
Addendum--Pat from Tosa sent me this: At Sentry on State Street they are $5.29. Also, > Drew's sells them but I don't know their price. If > you get paper bags for your groceries at Sentry and > save them for your next trip they also credit you > .05/bag so I get them there
Good for Sentry!

There is a new radio station for Milwaukee listeners. The new station is Radio Milwaukee 88.9 FM. My friend Rick tuned me into this station and it is great. It has the diversity of World Cafe 24/7. Just today, I heard Funk, Rap, Southern Rock, TechoRock and Fusion. If you like variety and want to listen to new music, include this station on your presets.
There are many great radio stations in Milw and this one is the Newest & Best.
It doesn't get stuck in decades, artists or genres. I has more variety than my IPOD (currently at 1,896 songs).
Mikey, Try it, you'll like it!

Now that gambling lobbyist who gave Governor Jim Doyle $100,000 in illegal campaign contributions was in indicted on fraud charges, it's time for Governor Doyle to resign.
How can he stay in office after receiving tainted money? How can he govern the great state of Wisconsin? How can he live with himself?
I say no, no and I don't know.
Time for the Governor to step down.
That is my opinion.
