Dave and Busters - Coming soon

By Mary Ann Sparks

I don't know how many of you have been to or heard of Dave and Busters. It's an indoor amusement park featuring video games that you actually participate in. There is a restaurant and a bar that serves both non-alcoholic beverages. There's a lot of pool tables too and party rooms. I was visiting some friends in Michigan and they took me for an evening of just plain fun.

Now, a good friend here in the Milwaukee area, yes, I know this should be about West Allis, but anyone in the area can go check out Dave and Busters out when it opens up. From what I understand the location is on Hwy 100 just below where the freeway goes across Hwy 100. Ewald Motors closed and that's the area that Dave and Busters is taking over. I've no idea when the grand opening will be but I've no doubt there will be some kind of publicity on TV or in the local papers.

I'm not a video game player, but I do enjoy board games and D & D.  However, I had so much fun at the Dave and Busters in Michigan that I can't imagine not enjoying the one here. There are simulators for driving tanks, race cars and jet skis that actually move. There are shooting galleries that are very realistic and a host of other activities including some sports. The food in the restaurant was pretty tasty too and, like I said earlier there is a bar that serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. In MIchigan after a certain time no minors are allowed too. I've no idea if that will be the case here in Wisconsin or not.

When it opens, check it out, loads of fun.

Great.....another place for the gang-banger's to hang out in. On the bright side it might take in all the trash at Chuck E Cheese so I can take my kids back and not worry about fights & getting shot.

W.A.M., you've obviously never been to a D&B.  It's nothing like Chuck E Cheese.  It's actually pretty expensive and relatively nice.  They have security guards, they also don't let anyone under 18 in after 9 PM, and I've heard they talked about making the age limit 21 in Tosa.  Been to both of D&Bs in Chicago (The Loop and Shaumburg) as well as in Denver.  Never once had a "gang banger" experience.

Your right...I never have been to D & B's. Judging from what I have seen on commercials though it looks like a Chuck E Cheese. Games, food, the whole thing. Chuck E Cheese has "security guards" also. I will check it out. I hope its a nice place & they prove me wrong.

When I was at the D & B in Michigan (in the Detroit area) I saw NO gangbangers and NO rugrats, just adults having fun and enjoying themselves. If the Tosa one sticks to an over 21 crowd it should be a good experience. Like I said, I've no idea what the charges are cause I spent no money there. Most under 21's won't be able to afford a night there since many of that age group doesn't have a lot of spendable money, especially for a date at an expensive date.

Let's give this place the benefit of the dought.  I haven't seen Stone fire pizza get all ghettofied yet, and it's been there for a few years.  On the other hand, though, it's nowhere near Milwaukee's north side.

But on the other hand, the site for the new D&B is VERY close to Mayfair Mall.  Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few years, you know the types of problems that young blacks caused over at Mayfair.  The PGR policy at Mayfair seems to have worked like a champ to eliminate the problem after those riots.  Perhaps D&B will do the same to prevent any potential problems even before they start.  Let's hope so.

Let's for once get your facts straight...

Tosa says 'no' to Dave & Buster's

Oct. 29, 2008 | Wauwatosa - A proposal to open Wisconsin's first Dave & Buster's restaurant - sometimes described as a Chuck E. Cheese for adults - hit a snag Tuesday night when Wauwatosa aldermen rejected the chain's plans to open a location on N. Mayfair Road.

Aldermen cited security and traffic concerns in shooting down plans for 33,000-square-foot arcade-themed restaurant.

"I'm concerned about security," said Ald. Dennis McBride. "I'm concerned about traffic. I'm concerned about the hours of operation."

AND STOP BLAMING THE NORTH SIDE OF MILWAUKEE FOR ALL OF THE CITIES PROBLEMS.

I'm somewhat surprised that Alderman McBride had the guts to sort of say the politically incorrect thing that he was 'concerned about security'.  Everybody knows what he meant. The comments in this story pretty much tell the ....rest of the story.

www.freerepublic.com/.../posts

Those darned Amish teenage troublemakers wrecked it for everybody at Mayfair, didn't they?  McBride probably wanted to make sure that those same Amish troublemakers wouldn't be attracted to the proposed Dave & Busters and that's why he said what he said.

Now that I think about it, isn't that location the same location that the new Pick 'n Save is going to be on Mayfair Road?  It'll be interesting to see how that clogs traffic on Mayfair Road over there.  D&B had potential security concerns and the P&S has potential/likely traffic problems.  No business is perfect and it's a balancing act for them to determine what would be the best fit at that location.  Actually, I don't know what plans had been approved (if any) for that parcel of land.

Actually, SickofSteve, you need to get your facts straight. D&B was back on track a week after the 10/29 post.

Look at AMENDED RESOLUTION R-08-218

I agree that "Traffic" concerns were a lame cover.  I can't wait for D&B to open.

Well, For all you people that are talking about "Gang Bangers," you really need to have a reality check and look in the mirror.  Many of caucasians  are ruthless also and you all can't blame actions on african Americans because there are many that know how to act.  The Mayfair area is great and I love it over there.  Maybe if Milwaukee give more things for Teens to do then we will not have that problem.  For Dave & Busters to be built it is a great start to have more activites going on.  I think it is a great place to be built.
