&lt;p&gt;What's wrong with the 'old' street lighting is that the poles had rusted (in just around 10 years time) to the point of having to be replaced anyway as possible hazards! &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The group responsible for that project never checked to see what effect road salt and our weather would have on the fixtures! This is one of the reasons we're shaking our heads when things like parking &amp;amp; planters, etc turn up during THIS project! &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;History is NOT doomed to repeat itself, but people who don't bother to follow history ARE! &lt;/p&gt;
